Teaching Statement
I have around 8 years of piano teaching experience all ages and levels, from beginner to RCM ARCT level.
I use the Royal Conservatory of Music piano books but I also enjoy looking for music outside the syllabus as I get to know my students individually. I also enjoy helping them play music they like outside of classical music by ear, or play using pop charts.
I have experience preparing students for RCM exams if that's what they want, but my philosophy for teaching is to nurture, above all, a deep love of music in each student and give them skills that they will be able to use for their entire lives as music lovers!

She has collaborated with noted vocalists and instrumentalists, most recently with acclaimed Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti, as well as celebrated Canadian baritone Russell Braun in recitals for Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. Talisa has also performed with musicians from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as well as Toronto Symphony Orchestra on their concert series Five Small Concerts.
Talisa is a founding member of the 6 Pianos Group based in London, Ontario. The group has been active for three years, performing a collection of repertoire arranged for six pianos. In 2014, Talisa co-arranged and performed a six piano and percussion performance of Leonard Berstein’s West Side Story Symphony Dances Suite.
Talisa began piano studies at the age of four with her mother; she continued her studies with Marina Geringas and Marietta Orlov at the Royal Conservatory of Music, with Joela Jones and Margarita Shevchenko at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and at the University of Western Ontario with Dr. John Hess.
