Teaching Statement
Dr. Bo-Yon is passionate about pedagogy, the arts and science of teaching, and strongly believes in the value of facilitating student-centred learning in her lessons. Dr. Bo-Yon's extensive training background in children's music pedagogy method such as Suzuki and Kodaly as well as twenty years of teaching experience has resulted in her unparalleled expertise in forming young pianists with strong foundations for technique and musical expressions. Dr. Bo-Yon's students enjoy outstanding achievements in RCM exams, local and provincial music competitions and other performance opportunities.
As a certified solution focused coach, Dr. Bo-Yon takes every opportunity to empower her students to become independent learners, equipping them with tools to regulate their learning when they are on their own. Her innovative approach has been presented at conferences in both music and counselling disciplines, such as the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy and the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Conference.

Biography
Pianist Bo-Yon enjoys a versatile career as a musician, educator, and researcher. As a soloist, she has appeared with the National Academy Orchestra, the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she is the recital partner to the violinist Min-Jeong Koh, and has collaborated with many other internationally recognized artists such as the violinist Conrad Chow, violist Richard Yongjae O’neill, cellist Liza McLellan, and the members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
