Teaching Statement
Here are some Testimonials from educators and students that I have worked with:
Alicia is an excellent teacher, very kind with the little ones, and great with the teenagers. I heartily recommend her. She has good depth in opera repertoire, and in art songs and lieder. A lovely person too.

Biography
Exploring vocal repertoire with students is one of life’s greatest joys! Since graduating from the University of British Columbia, I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach in White Rock, BC as well as at the Conservatory of Performing Arts, University of Regina. I will begin my sixth year of teaching private voice lessons at my voice studio in Airdrie, AB this year. Besides having experience as a private voice teacher, I have had the opportunity to adjudicate local voice competitions at the Long and McQuade Music Education Centre in Regina. I have also been the Vocal adjudicator for Voice and Musical Theater classes for the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association in Maple Creek and in Swift Current.
I have taught people of all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced students. I enjoy aiding vocalists in preparation for upcoming performances, music ministry, RCM examinations, local music festivals and master classes. I have taught many different genres of vocal music including classical music, musical theatre, Christian rock, popular music, and standard jazz. I specialize in teaching classical, age appropriate art song, folk song, musical theater and opera. As a classically trained singer, I teach technique which helps in the improvement of breath support, alignment for superior vocal production, tone quality, lyric diction, interpretation, and much more.
My goal as a teacher is to provide an encouraging atmosphere of learning and a solid vocal foundation of technique which will aid in producing beautiful singing and moving performances. I have also received acting coaching throughout my training as an opera singer. I like to encourage my students to engage in dramatic presentation as well! My students have a lot of fun and get to explore a lot of fabulous music.
