Teaching Statement
The "classical" music-theory tradition has long provided practical skills to aspiring composers, and I view theory and composition as inextricably bound up. Likewise, both traditional composition and electronic music-making rely on strong ear-training skills, so musicianship is a part of everything I teach.
Education
Master's of Fine Arts, Simon Fraser University (expected graduation December 2016)
Bachelor of Music, Composition, McGill University (2014)
Biography
I am a composer and sound designer originally from Ottawa. I recently moved to Vancouver after living in Montreal for several years, and am currently a studying in SFU's Interdisciplinary Master's program, where I concentrate on making electronic and mixed live/electronic compositions. Outside of the concert music world, I have an abiding interest in songwriting and have lately been experimenting with various studio recording techniques.
Studio Policies
I don't own a car or a house with a piano in it, so I will travel to you by means of public transit. If you live outside the city, this may present difficulties!
Bookings or cancellations need to happen at least a week in advance, except in cases of emergency.
